Church Life
Worship at revolution is exciting, thought-provoking, and always relevant. Music is incredibly important to the worship experience. The Revolution band, led by Zach Colvin, he focuses on crafting completely new and unique arrangements for some of Christianity's oldest hymns, skillfully combining theological teaching and creative arrangements. The band plays music that covers the entire spectrum of musical genre, and they're known for using all sorts of instruments: guitars and drums are staples, but they sporadically throw in a harmonica, a keyboard, a mandolin, a cello, a djembe, and lots of other instruments as well. Worship usually centers on one important theme at a time, and each theme spans anywhere from 2-5 weeks. These 'worship series' have ranged in topic from last fall's "does God give a damn? an honest look at human suffering" to this spring's "it's a mall world after all: jesus Christ and pop culture." Rethink Team
Led by Don Wilson, the Rethink Team meets to pray and make important decisions regarding church finances and personnel. The Team is responsible for budgeting, financial accountability, and personnel management. Revolution's pastoral team, along with the guidance of three members of the Rethink Team, currently nominates people to participate in this team.
Remove Team
This important team is led by Brandon Wilson, and is responsible for marketing/advertising, communications, hospitality, and facilities. They meet once every two months to pray and make decisions about getting Revolution's message out as effectively as possible. This team's goal is also to ensure that visitors at Revolution feel completely comfortable and welcome. Finally, the Remove Team makes critical decisions for the upkeep of our 100-year old building.
Reshape Team
This team led by Sarah Recker and Jeff Daniel, is charged with organizing and executing regular service opportunities in which the people of Revolution can reshape the future of the world. These projects include local initiatives, such as our service-oriented movement groups and local and international mission initiatives. This team works to prayerfully decide which ideas to pursue, and then to organize and execute these initiatives to make a positive impact on the world.
- become a hospitality technician (a.k.a. "a greeter":-) - h.t.'s show up a few minutes before worship begins to help people feel at home as they arrive for worship. We always try to pay special attention to first time visitors at Revolution, by showing them to the coffee, juice, and donuts in the back of the sanctuary, and by showing them where the restrooms and children's ministry spaces are. h.t.'s also help address the special needs of any guests, such as those with physical disabilities or children who need special attention. To explore becoming a hospitality technician, please send an e-mail geovanna@kcrevolution.org
- become a sanctuary beautification specialist (a.k.a. "worship designer") - s.b.s.'s get together on the Saturday mornings before a new series of discussions begins (usually about one Sunday a month) to create a new design for the worship space. We frequently use candles, furniture, props, tables, or whatever we can find to 'set the tone' for the upcoming worship theme. To find out more about helping out in this way, please contact Andi Johnson at: andi63@yahoo.com
- become a customer service representative (a.k.a. "revolution store salesperson") - the revolution store, or "rethink remove retail", is open Sunday mornings before, during, and after worship at Revolution. We sell our shirts, hoodies, buttons, calendars, books, and other cool stuff there. We need workers for this new store to start immediately. : Pay is ehÉum, well, there is not pay, but the benefits are eh....wait, no benefits either. Hey, youÕd just be doing the right thing! Please contact us at mail@kcrevolution.org.
